Director's Diary Entry #4 - Fools Rush In?

I was recently walking along the river in Richmond and came across a collection of benches each inscribed with a proverb. One in particular caught my attention because it was the title of a dance film that I studied at GCSE and it got me thinking; had I been a fool to rush in?

When I first came up with the idea for Dance Pad it was met with various responses from the enthusiastic “that’s a great idea, I can’t believe it doesn’t already exist” to a slightly sarcastic “wow, you’re brave”. Bizarrely it wasn’t stepping into the unknown that filled me with trepidation, rather the question “why doesn’t it already exist?”

2 years on, 6 successful projects later and with more planned for the coming year I’ve come to the conclusion that no, fools don’t rush in where angels fear to tread, they trust their instincts and throw themselves in completely. Yes, they might make mistakes along the way, but it’s these mistakes that make us stronger and better prepared for whatever the future may hold.
